
Kate Hudson is an accomplished actor, most famous for her part as Penny Lane in the Hollywood film Almost Famous which resulted in her receiving an Academy Award nomination. Born into a film-related family, Hudson was destined to make waves as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She was a performer since an early age. When she was a kid her parents offered dance classes and she studied at the Santa Monica Playhouse. She began acting when she was invited to play a character in the TV drama Party of Five in the year 1996. The show was a success and she was admitted to New York University, but Kate Hudson was more interested in pursuing a career in show business instead of pursuing the degree. After appearing in a couple of minor films her audition was for the part that would turn into one of her major roles in her career. She was cast as Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. Although it was a box-office failure, the film received positive reviews from critics and made a name for Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
